The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse offers personalized consultations to venture capital firms, angel investors or other capital investment networks looking for investment opportunities. As your research partner, we will provide reliable recommendations based on comprehensive and trustworthy due diligence.

We work with our region's life sciences companies in two capacities.

  • As company formation and business growth advisors, we directly assist researchers and entrepreneurs in analyzing and developing the full market potential of their innovations. By becoming integral members of the founding management team, our PLSG staff can offer its domain-specific, C-level expertise to young companies, while our Executives-in-Residence apply decades of life sciences industry experience to help plan for every aspect of company development and commercialization, including strategies for market research, product development, funding, and regulatory approval and reimbursement.
  • As investors in seed and early-stage life sciences companies, we analyze each company's likelihood of successful commercialization and profitability. As they develop, we continue to monitor the progress and performance of our Portfolio companies.

As western Pennsylvania's only investment agency with a pure life sciences focus, we combine our deep knowledge of global industry trends, national networks, and corporate collaborations to identify worthy investment opportunities within our region's industry.

The $8.1M Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse (PLSG) Accelerator Fund I was closed in December 2011 and provides life sciences companies with venture capital financing, which is the next step beyond capital provided by economic development organizations; friends and family; and angel investors. The PLSG Accelerator Fund, separate from and complementary to the PLSG, is building a portfolio of early-stage life sciences investments, primarily located in western Pennsylvania and spread across several life sciences sectors including medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, healthcare information technology and biotechnology tools.

Raising our Region's Profile

The PLSG serves as an investor relations conduit for life sciences companies. We are tireless advocates in the effort to attract capital investments to western Pennsylvania's life sciences industry. Additionally, we promote the region's biosciences innovations and achievements through media relations, industry events, and one-on-one relationship building with investors located in Pittsburgh and across the United States.
