AIT is developing a novel, patented technology for tagging and identifying molecules. The key to AIT's technology is the capability to tag chemical entities (molecules) in a way that allows subsequent identification without changing their chemical properties, and without making them radioactive. This is in contrast with other tagging approaches, such as fluorescent dyes, where the tagging molecule changes the chemical properties of the molecule being tagged as well as radically increases the size of the tagged molecules.
