EnterPrize awards given out

iNTELOMED and Staffing Direct Business Solutions LP each took home $20,000 Monday night as winners of the final phase of the eighth annual EnterPrize Business Plan Competition.

The third and final phase of the competition awarded both a new business and an existing one. The new business, iNTELOMED, is a Pittsburgh-based medical device company that is developing technology to help detect cardiovascular instability or a non-ambulatory person's ability to address to stress. Staffing Direct, the existing business, provides contract staffing of professional services.

In all three rounds of the competition, participants took home a total of $87,500. Sponsors of the event, which was run by the Pittsburgh Technology Council, included the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Citizens Bank, the Heinz Endowments, Idea Foundry, Innovation Works, KQV-AM, the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, R.P. Simmons Family Foundation, Tippins Foundation and the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.
