FAQ:
What are the SBIR and the SBIR Road Tour?
Each year, federal agencies award $2.5 billion in funding to small research and development firms through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program.
The SBIR/STTR programs are coordinated by the SBA and were created to support scientific excellence and technological innovation through the investment of federal research funds in critical American priorities to build a strong national economy. Funding takes the form of contracts or grants and the awardee projects must have the potential for commercialization while meeting specific U.S. Government R&D requirements.
The SBIR Road Tour was set up to convey this funding opportunity to small businesses and technology entrepreneurs across the country and to increase SBIR/STTR submissions in underrepresented areas.
Who is the SBIR Road Tour for?
The event is open to small businesses, innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technology firms. The SBIR/STTR programs fund a wide variety of technology areas including unmanned systems, advanced materials, health, cyber security, defense, and more. Women- and minority-owned businesses are especially encouraged to attend.
You can read SBIR/STTR success stories here.
When can I schedule my one-on-one meetings?
You will be emailed a link to sign up for one-on-one meetings after you register. Each registrant is guranteed three meetings with program managers; additional meetings may be scheduled based on availability. Two weeks before the event, you’ll be contacted about agency meeting preparation.
Registration gives you full access to the event, which includes agency one-on-one meetings, panel presentations, breakfast and lunch, and programming on best practices for accessing the SBIR/STTR programs.
Register early to guarantee your one-on-one spot. They will fill up quickly!
